Crossandra aka the firecracker flower is prized for its continual display of orange, or apricot flowers and gorgeous shiny oblong foliage.

A great long-lasting color plant, Crossandra can bloom almost nonstop all year long in the right conditions. In tropical climates, these heat- and humidity-loving plants put on quite the show with their spikes of bright orange, yellow, salmon, or pink blooms.

Crossandra plants can be thought of as slightly easier cousins of the hibiscus, though they aren't related It's grown as a bedding plant in tropical and subtropical areas and as an annual in northern areas.
